SiDMAP technology platform goes beyond simple measurement of key metabolite levels. We have developed fully integrated informatics capabilities to monitor up to 340 metabolic pathway functions in a single assay, so that we could best assess systemic drug affect. SiDMAP technology platform deploys mass spectrometry along with tracers that are safe to use in animals and humans, and require no special training or licensure to handle.  Using non-radioactive stable isotope tracer labeling we routinely measure metabolic fluxes in cells, animal models, and humans. Unlike traditional metabolic profiling (without tracers), SiDMAP’s tracer-based approach measures rate of turnover of molecules through a metabolic pathway. We measure flux by understanding the distribution of our tracers in the pathways analyzed, rather than by estimating changes of metabolite concentration over various time intervals.

SiDMAP’s functional (not static) metabolic profiling is based on the fact that positional labeling in relevant target metabolites reveals detailed metabolic network function and phenotype. This approach allows us to elucidate the inter-workings of the metabolic networks by measuring the rearrangement of tracer carbons within intracellular metabolites.  In short, SiDMAP not only measures metabolite levels, but also provides a detailed understanding of what contributed to those levels and also how changes in one metabolic pathway can impact other pathways.

SiDMAP’s assays are unique in that they measure the activity of metabolic pathways in living organisms and that they are dynamic measuring changes over time.

In addition to being safe for use in humans, we use stable isotopes tracers that can be delivered by essentially any route of administration. Our tracers are generally relevant to a wide range of metabolic pathways and our assays are conducted in a high-through put manner.
